ADRIEN C. FINLAY
Our annual tradition of performing Handel’s “Messiah” on the first Saturday of December is almost 120 years old and running. This program is from a singular performance from 1977, which coincided with the renaissance and reintroduction of Mechanics Hall as a world-renowned concert hall. Featured was Jerry mock, a long-time former director of the Worcester chorus, and a wonderful cast of soloists. Amazingly, several members of the chorus from that time are still performing with us today. No matter what religion they may be, where they may live, whether they’re new to the area or long-time residents, many people tell that our even each December ushers in the festivities of the holiday season for them.
