Description

Interview with Christopher J. Crowley:
We don’t know who came up with the polar bear image, but the company was founded in 1882 to provide “arctic pure water” at a time when the water supply was really rough. People drank beer because it was a much safer way to hydrate than water. We’ve had the giant inflatable polar bear on our sign on the highway for years, and it stays up all the time unless it’s really windy. Now it’s free standing on an iceberg, but it used to be attached to the billboard. People used to shoot at it when it was on the billboard, and it’s been kidnapped quite a few times. Once we offered a reward and when the kidnapper stuck it in front of the Children’s Friends Society, we gave the reward to charity.
